National footwear products ready to assault the ASEAN market (TULISAN)

Merdeka.com - Director General of Small Medium Industries (SMI) of the Ministry of Industry, Euis Saedah optimistic footwear products are able to penetrate the domestic market in ASEAN. Especially, when the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) came into force in 2015.

"There are more than a thousand SMEs that can attack and be ready to fill the ASEAN market.'s Mainly from the region of West Java, East Java, and Banten, which has a large enough potential," said Euis at the Ministry of Industry, South Jakarta, Tuesday (12/8) .

Euis said the target market is Indonesia's footwear exports are Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam. In addition, the government is also targeting Indonesian products can penetrate Singapore.

"If (our exports) to Singapore, could be barged to the outside of the ASEAN market. Although Singapore does not make (produce) but it could be the hub of ASEAN products," said Euis.

Euis claimed today in Indonesia has no Indonesian Footwear Industry Development Center (BPIPI) who perform services for the institutional strengthening of the craftsmen.

"PAIB've done to make the institutional strengthening services for craftsmen. Shoe There are testing products, laboratory, SNI, it BPIPI ready for testing," said Euis.

BPIPI himself, he added, already has about 7,200 alumni. "Although not all of them build their own footwear industry, but there are at least 1,000 SMEs shoes that are ready to compete when the MEA," he said.
